Should Women Keep Their Feet Together When in Salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question:

I was always under the impression that women should keep their feet together in salaah – kindly advise.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The space between the feet for men and women when they are standing in salaah is at least 4 fingers [1]. There is no specific requirement for women to keep their feet together in salaah and there is no report of there being a dispute between scholars on the standing posture of women in salaah being different from that of men. In fact, the answers given are that men and women should both stand with their feet at least 4 fingers apart [2].
