Question

Any materials on honour killings and Islam?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer

In Islam there is no concept of honour killing, it has no basis in Islam whatsoever. Islam teaches us peace and honouring life not killing.

Allah mentions in the Quran:

And whoever kills a believer purposely, his retribution is Hell-Fire forever and Allah’s anger and curse. And Allah will prepare an enormous torment for him. (Surah al Nisa ayah 93)

In another ayah Allah mentions :

For that cause, we decreed for the Children of Israel that whosoever kills a human for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all humanity, and whosoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind.” (Surah Maidah v.32)

From the above two ayahs we learn how Islam preserves the life of one another so much so the ayah mentions who so ever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind.

Only Allah knows best
