Fasting on Mondays and Thursdays
In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.
Answer
Saaiduna Abu Qatadah Radiallahu Anhu reports that he Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam was asked about fasting on Mondays. He said, “That is the day in which I was born and the day which I received revelation.” (Sahih Muslim p.368 v.1)
Saaduna Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu reports that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said, “Deeds of people are presented (to Allah) on Mondays and Thursdays. So I like that my actions are presented while I am fasting.” (Sunan Tirmizi p.157 v.1)
