Can we eat people or suck our own blood

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Can we eat people or suck our own blood?

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

To suck one’s own blood is impermissible.  Blood whether it’s own or someone else’s is impure thus it ill be impermissible to suck it.  (Raddul Muhtar p.260 v.1)

Allah (SWA) in the Holy Quran has said:

‘He has only forbidden you carrion, blood, the flesh of swine and that upon which a name other than Allah has been invoked’.  (Surah Baqarah v.173)

To eat people is also unlawful.  The progeny of Adam Alayhis Salam is sacred and to use even their body parts is disrespectful and against he sanctity of humans therefore, eating them will be strictly prohibited.  (Hidayah p.55 v.2)
