Alcohol Free drinks

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Is a drink which states alcohol free haraam, and also if it is served on a table, is it impermissible to consume food on that table?

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

Saaiduna Jabir Radiallahu Anhu narrates that The Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said, “Whatever intoxicant in a greater quantity is also unlawful in its smaller quantity.” (Sunan Tirmizi p.8 v.2)

Regarding your question, if the drink is 100% alcohol free, then it will be permissible to drink it and also sit and eat on that table where it is being served. The prohibition of sitting on a table applies to where alcoholic drinks are being drunk.

The Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam has said, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day must not sit at a table at which alcohol is consumed.” (Sunan Tirmizi & Musnad Ahmad)
