Question

My husband gave divorce to his first wife. He had two sons from his first marriage. I am his second wife. He still stays with the first wife and kids. The children are of age 21 and 22. I want to know whether after divorce a husband and can stay together

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Answer

After a man issues three talaq, or he issues one revocable talaq and the waiting period has expired without him revoking, or the waiting period has expired on an irrevocable talaq, it is fardh upon the ex-husband and wife to separate and live like total non-mahram strangers. Any physical contact is regarded as adultery/fornication. (Bahishti Zewar, Chapter of Divorce)
