Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance)

The word “He” is used when referring to Allah out of respect, dignity and high status. It would be totally inappropriate to use the word “it” and would not convey the proper understanding of Allah being who Allah is; Alive, Compassionate, Forgiving, Patient, Loving, etc. It is not correct to associate the word “He” with gender, as this would be comparing Allah to the creation, something totally against the teaching of Quran.

All Muslims must have firm belief that Allah the Almighty does not resemble any of His Creatures. He, the Almighty and Sublime is neither a male nor a female. This fact is as clear as daylight as it is mentioned in the Qur’an. Allah the Almighty says: “Naught is as His likeness; and He is the Hearer, the Seer.” (Ash-Shu`araa’: 11)

Almighty Allah is far more Exalted above what man may imagine about His Divine Entity, because Allah is not matter, accidental or an object. He is the Sole Creator and naturally the Creator is absolutely different from what He creates.

Our minds are confined to certain limited thinking in the sense that we will surely go astray if we give free rein to our minds when we think about Allah. A Muslim has to keep in mind that what applies to Allah does not in any way apply to His Creatures. Allah the Almighty says, “Vision comprehendeth Him not, but He comprehendeth (all) vision. He is the Subtle, the Aware.” (Al-An`am: 102).

And Only Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
