Question:

Haajra Prophet Abrahams’s wife, was she Pharaohs daughter? If not who was she?

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Answer:

When Prophet Ibrahim and Sarah when to Egypt, the Pharaoh of their time ordered that Sarah be brought to him due to her beauty. When the Pharaoh wanted to place his hand on Sarah with ill-intentions, his hand paralyzed three times before he finally ordered to return her back to Ibrahim. It was at this point that he gifted Haajar (alayhas salam) to Prophet Ibrahim (alayhis salam) along with Sarah.

Haajar is not the daughter of the Fir’aun, that we know of during the time of Musa (alayhis salam). That Pharaoh comes later on in history. Different things have been mentioned regarding who she was but it is sufficient that we know her as the wife of Ibrahim (alayhis salam) and the mother of Prophet Isma’il (alayhis salam). [1]
