Question-

I am traveling 44 miles however due to a wrong turn I ended up reaching my destination after 49 miles. Am I a Musafir?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Answer

If the intention was made when initially leaving that you are going to travel and therefore the rulings of travel will apply to you, then you will be considered a Musafir.

However, if your intention was not to travel but rather to do something else and you happened to exceed the limit of travel then you will not be considered a Musafir.[1]
