Question

Can a Masjid Mutawalli use Masjid funds to give plaques to people who served the Masjid?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

If the funds were given to a specific project, like for building classrooms in the masjid, then it is not permissible to use it for other things.

But if it was given as general sadaqa to the masjid, it can be used to give it to the staff and volunteers in the mosque. It is important that there is no exaggeration in the presents and the bonuses that are given to the volunteers and staff.[1]
