When do we have to keep our Qadha Ramadhan fasts by?

Question:

Asalam Alaikum

I have a lot of missed fasts of Ramadan to make up. Can I keep these obligatory fasts on Fridays only since it is my holiday?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

When one has missed the fasts of Ramadan, it is necessary to make qadha of these fasts without the need to give fidyah with it, and neither is fasting them consecutively necessary because it is a long-term necessity (‘alat taraakhee) and can be delayed with valid excuses.

This is why if one wishes to fast voluntary fasts in between his qadha fasts it will be permissible as opposed to the one who has missed prayers.
