Do I still need to give Zakat in this situation

Question:

I’ve lost my job and presently working as self-employed where sometimes I get money and sometimes don’t.

I support my family (wife and son) with my savings. However, my savings are more than 7 tola gold. Do I still need to pay Zakat?

If yes, then can I use this money for Qurbani for needy people? If no 

then where can I pay Zakat?

Answer:

The nisaab of gold is 7.5 tola.

If one owns less than this, they are not liable to pay zakaat.
