Does the Holy Quran mention anything about using pig skin?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com

Question: As Salaamo Alaikum… I Would like a reply to the following: The person who has asked this question is a shia. Dear, yes we do use pig linings. I appreciate your coments in the right spirit-you are a good man and a good friend. However i have a few doubts on the topic and i seek your help in clarification of the same.

(1) Does the holy quran talk about the usage of pig skins-i know it clearly forbides the consumption fo the same.

(2) May i also understand why our religion forbids the consumption of pork-i am lead to beleive that pork meat putrifies faster than any other meat consumed by man and the holy prophet considering the times when preservation was difficult in the desert due to the extreme heat conditions and obvious lack of refrigeration, forbid the consumption of the same due to medical reasons as many people were falling sick due to the quick puetrifaction fo the meat. Look forward to your inputs. Rgds,

Answer

(Fatwa: 537=529/B)

(1) In the Holy Quran, there is no mention about the use of the skin of pig. It is stated that pork (لحم خنزير) is Najis (impure). According to the interpreters of the Quran, the flesh, skin, nerves and fat; every thing is Haram and the word of Quran includes all these things. Yes, the Holy Quran prohibits eating pork.

(2) Pork is naturally impure and unclean. It was prohibited due to its impurity. We did not see in any Hadith the reason you mentioned.
