What is the ruling on deductions from salary for coming in late?

We have set time to enter the office from 9.30 to 9.45 if some one enters after 9.45 he is marked late If he or she gets 5 latemarks half day salary is deducted and so on. IS IT JAYAZ/HALAL according to shariya?.

Answer

(Fatwa: 1007/566/D=1432)

It is lawful to deduct the salary equal to delay in attendance, particularly when the matter of deduction is already cleared in the rules and regulations.
