What is the maximum amount of time that a person can go without bathing in order to maintain cleanliness and hygiene?

If the ghusl is obligatory, he can remain in the same condition of impurity until the time of a salah arrives. But, it is better to get pure by having ghusl as soon as possible. However, it is sunnah to have ghusl once in a week on Friday.
