(1) I have got married on 23rd August 2015. I am already giving zakah for my provisions. My wife has nearly 520 grams of ornamental gold which includes my mahr. Is it mandatory for me to pay zakah for 520 grams of gold, but one year is not completed by this year Ramadan. Please clarify. (2) One additional question is it mandatory to calculate zakah of dresses too i.e. costly dresses.

(1) According to the Shari’ah, the zakah of the jewelry which your wife owns is fardh on your wife after passage of one year. It is not fardh on you to pay its zakah. Yes, if you pay the zakah of the said jewelry as a wakil of your wife then the zakah shall be paid.
(2) Zakah is not wajib on dress, no matter how costly they are.
