Wearing expensive clothes and decorating one’s house

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissile in Islam to wear or use expensive clothes, electronic items or to decorate one’s house? Will  be sinful or not?

Bismillaah

A: It is permissible, provided that one is not doing it for show, extravagance, one is not depriving any person of his rights, and it does not amount to imitating the kuffaar. In regard to decorations, some aspects are considered as extravagance in their very nature and thus the Hadith has discouraged this e.g. draping the walls, etc. Hence, one should refrain from these types of decorations and adornments.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
