Repay or lie about gold?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I got married 4 months back and everything is going well, Alhamdulillah. When I got married I told that I would give 40 grams of gold chain as mahr and gave the same amount. In marriage certificate it was written in 40 grams of gold chain as mahr. Everyone believed the same. But today I came to know from my mom that we gave only 32 grams of gold chain instead of 40 grams as said. What is the ruling here? (1) Should I repay the remaining grams or shall I tell to my wife that it is only 32 grams and ask her to accept?
(2) Can I touch her till I repay the amount?
(3) Is it halal for us, the time we spent together without giving the full amount. Kindly clarify me as soon as possible.

(1) It is necessary to pay mahr whatever is fixed. In the question mentioned it should be investigated whether only 32 gram gold or amount equal to it was paid in mahr, then you should pay the rest amount. However if you inform your wife about it then it is better.

(2) Yes, you may touch her.

(3) Whatsoever you did so far it was halal. The receipt of mahr is not mandatory to have sexual relation with wife after nikah, it is alright to pay the mahr later but it should be paid as soon as possible.
