Is it ever okay to lie if it’s for a good cause?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Here i have seen some my friends, they have went for 40 Days Jamat. Which is very good, & Appriciatable. But here is issue i have seen that, some of there famaly members did not agree to send them for that. So they decided to tell lie at home that they will go for 3-10 days Jamat. So my questions is that is it fair to tell lie in any situation. Because if you are going for good deed, and u start from lie. I am waiting for your reply. So please reply me as soon as possible.

It is not right to say “we will go for 3-10 days Jamat” while one has intention to go in Jama’at for 40 days. This is also lie; it is not permissible. But, it may be allowable if he tells them vaguely without specification of days.
