Beauty and adornment are the nature of women.
Shariah also encourages women to beautify themselves for only their husbands. If a woman adorns herself within the limitations of
Shariah, that is an act of virtue. If she trespasses the limits of
Shariah in beautifying herself, it will be a vice.
It is permissible to use lipsticks on condition they don’t contain impure ingredients and should not serve as a paste which prevents water from penetrating through it as that will render the
Wudhu invalid. Carmine acid is extracted from beetles and contain particles of beetles in it, carmine also called cochineal. Cochineal extract, crimson lake or carmine lake, natural red 4, C.I. 75470, or E120, is a pigment of a bright-red colour obtained by crushing and boiling dried insects in water to extract the carmine acid.
Carmine is used in the manufacture of artificial flowers, paints, crimson ink, rouge, and other cosmetics, and is routinely added to food products such as yogurt, candy and certain brands of juice.
SANHA (South African National Halal Association) has conducted detail research on Cochineal and declared it impermissible for consumption. In principle, it is impermissible to consume insects or its products. There is a strong possibility of intake of lipstick through licking etc. therefore; lipstick having carmine is not permissible.
اگر لپ اسٹک میں کوئی حرام جزو نہ ہو اور وضوء کا پانی جسم تک پہونچنے میں رکاوٹ نہ بنتا ہو، تو اس کا استعمال جائز نہیں، اگر کوئی حرام جزو اس کی بناوٹ میں شامل ہو اس کا استعمال جائز نہیں، اگر حرام جزو تو شامل نہ ہو، لیکن ہونٹ پر اسی تہ جم جاتی ہو کہ وضوء کا پانی نہ پہونچ سکے تو جن عورتوں پر نماز واجب ہے، ان کے لے لپ اسٹک لگانا جائز نہیں،جن عورتیں ایسی حالت میں ہوں کہ فی الحال ان پر نماز واجب نہیں اور نماز واجب ہونے سے پہلے لپ اسٹک صاف ہو جانے کی امید ہو ان کے لے لگا نے کی گنجائش ہے-) کتاب الفتاوی-(Vol:6/Pg:83
