Wishing a Couple on their Marriage

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by CouncilofUlama.co.za

Q: Is it permissible for a Muslim to offer the following prayer to a non-Muslim couple on their impending marriage? If not, please explain why it is unsuitable?

“I would like to offer a prayer for them to God Almighty that may they be happy, blessed, prosperous and forever smiling in their married life and may God Almighty guide them always to everything that is good and righteous. Once again, congratulations on your wedding day.”

A: Yes it would be correct to make this prayer for the soon to be bride and groom. It would be good if you also said: “May Allah guide you to the straight path as well.

And allah knows best!
