Entering a Church

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by CouncilofUlama.co.za

Q: Can a Muslim enter a church for a funeral or wedding?

A: Attending gatherings of the kuffār in churches etc. and participating in their ceremonies is tantamount to honouring their religion and resembling them in action. Regarding this, Rasulullah Sallallāhu ̒alaihi Wa Sallam has said: “Whoever resembles a nation, then he is among them.” (Abu Dāwud) Therefore, in principle it is not permissible to enter churches/church halls etc.
