Whats the difference between the Hajj of a Hanafi muqallid and a ghayr muqallid?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by AskOurImam.com

Asalamualaikum warehmatullah wabarakatuh!

Hazrat Muftihan-e-Kiram, INSHA ALLAH I am intending to perform Hajj this years with my wife, as I mentioned before that my wife is Gair Muqallid and I am assuming, this may cause a bit of irrational argument between us during the great Fardh.

I just wanted to know the differences between Muqallid (Hanafi) and Gair Muqallid on Hajj (mansik/ ama’l etc)? so that I might be able to handle the situation with the Help of Allah Subhanahu! JAZAKALLH O KHERA

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

While the rituals of Hajj performed by a muqallid and non-muqallid are similar, there may be some differences in the sequence of pelting the jamarāt, slaughtering the animal and shaving or trimming the head.

Explain to your wife you wish to execute Hajj as performed by Allah`s Messenger (peace and salutations be upon him).

Allah`s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:

لتأخذوا مناسككم فإني لا أدري لعلي لا أحج بعد حجتي هذه

Translation: You should take your [ritual and procedure of] Hajj [from me] since I do not know that perhaps I may not perform Hajj after my this Hajj

[Sahīh Muslim, 2632; Sunan Abī Dawūd, 1970; Sunan an-Nasa`I, 4068; Musnad al-Imām Ahmad, 14544]

It is recorded in Sahīh Muslim [2645] on the authority of Anas bin Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) that:

أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أتى منى فأتى الجمرة فرماها ثم أتى منزله بمنى ونحر ثم قال للحلاق “خذ” وأشار إلى جانبه الأيمن ثم الأيسر

Translation: Allah`s Messenger (peace and salutations be upon him) came to Mina and then he went to jamarah and pelted stones at it. Then he went to his place in Mina and slaughtered an animal. Then he said to the barber: “Shave” and he indicated to his right part then the left.[1]
