If a Masbuq commits a mistake, does he have to make Sajdah Sahw?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by AskOurImam.com

Assalam alaikum,

I want to ask if I have joined namaz with jamat in the mosque in the second or third rakat and commit any mistake for a sazda suhu to be required, can I do so?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

A Masbuq (one who missed at least a Rak’at with the congregation) must make Sajdah Sahw if he unintentionally omits a Wajib act of Salah after the Imam has made salam, for example, if he does not recite Surah Fatiha or does not sit in tashahhud after two Rak`ats in a four Rak`ats Salah etc. [1]
