Bleeding in the Clean Period

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: A female’s cycle can begin early or later every month. What I’d like to know is, if she got her menses for 15 days last month (shafiee) and her menses started 3 days earlier this month (it falls within the 15 days of purity) does she take it as istihaadah or as a new haidh that has begun?

A: You say that the 3 days fell within the 15 day clean period. Well, if that is so then she must consider that as istihaadah. Any blood that flows before fifteen clean days is generally istihaadha. In the above case her haidh will be according to her normal cycle if she is still bleeding by then.
