Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The purpose of istikharah is to seek khair (goodness) from Allah Ta’ala in whatever we intend to do. It is not necessary to see a dream for istikharah. By making istikharah, one is guided by Allāh Ta`ala alone.

As such, you may simply act according to the inclination of your heart on the matter, but you should also seek mashwarah (counsel) from your elders before making a final decision.
