Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

  1. The presence of Jinn is undoubtedly common in the world and their mischief and evil cannot be negated. However, it is inappropriate to attribute every unusual occurrence, illness and difficulty to the Jinn. The mere thought or assumption that one is possessed by Jinn is baseless.

Whilst you mention that you have experienced nothing strange around your house and are angered by the constant mention of her possessing Jinn, you should remember that you are faced with a dual task of maintaining good ties with your relatives and also alleviating their doubts regarding your mother.

We advise that you speak to you mother in a diplomatic manner and express your concerns and the concerns of your relatives. If she is actually afflicted with such a problem, then you may consult a reliable Aamil (an expert in issues of Jinn) and follow his guidance. Do not do anything by yourself. Thereafter, you may accordingly clarify the matter with your relatives. If your mother feels she is fine, then explain to your relatives that mere assumptions and the fact that you had been living in an old house do not necessitate that your mother is possessed by Jinn.
