Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

assalamualaikum..

i wanted to clarify a doubt i had in my mind about istekhara..

if a person does a istekhara for a certain thing and if he gets an negative answer for it and the person later on repeats the istekhara for the same thing again for 3 or 4 times. then is it possible for a person to get a positive answer from allah(swt) for the same thing for which he had a negative answer from allah(swt).. similarly if a person does a istekhara and gets a positive answer for it can he later on repeating the istekhara for same thing can he get a negative answer for it.. plzzz clariy my doubt.

Also plzz let me know about how to interpretate a dream and quranic verses we get as answers to our istekhara.. plzz clarify my doubt and enlighten me on this topic

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

When making Istikhara, the intention and condition of the mind is important. The intention must be sincerely to seek the guidance of Allah. Don’t predetermine the issue at hand and make Istikhara merely as a formality. If one has already predetermined the issue, positively or otherwise and the heart is already inclined in one direction, it is very possible that the dream one gets while making Istikhara is a reflection of one’s mind and heart. That dream cannot be taken as guidance from Allah. It is therefore important to expel all decisions and completely submit to the guidance of Allah. If one gets conflicting dreams or thoughts in Istikhara, discard such dreams and thoughts and continue the Istikhara with a balanced mind until one is honestly sure and certain of his decision.
