Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The incident of the Coptic’s death took place after Nabi Musa AS announced his prophet hood. The Quran refers to the Israeli as “from his group”. The commentators mention these words indicate he was from amongst the disciples of Musa AS and that he had Imān.[1]
