It is said that recitation of Quran and prayers are not allowed during “Zawal” time. What is this and how
can one determine this period?
Answer:
It is prohibited to perform any Salaat, Fardh or Nafl during Zawaal. It is
not prohibited to recite Qur’aan during Zawaal.
Zawaal is when the sun reaches its zenith (miway point). The period of
Zawaal lasts until the sun commences its decline towards the west. There is
no standard period of Zawaal. It differs from place to place depending on
the geographical location.
