Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Asalam o alaikum I live in UK and wanted to apply for British citizenship. For this i have to take Oath of Allegiance. I want to ask you Is it permisable for a Muslim to take such Oath? There are two types of Oath`s statements which are as follows: Oath of Allegiance I, Mr/Mrs XYZ, swear by Almighty God that, on becoming a British citizen ,I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to her Majesty Queen Elizabith the second her Heirs and Successors according to the law. Affirmation of Allegiance I, Mr/Mrs XYZ, do solemnly and sincerely affirm that, on becoming a British citizen ,I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to her Majesty Queen Elizabith the second her Heirs and Successors according to the law.

Answer

If a Muslim is compelled to take the oath of allegiance in reference to
qualify for citizenship, then he will be excused. Obviously, a Muslim’s true
allegiance is to Allah Alone.
