Is it permissible to say salams to Non Mehram?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Most of the time when I call a friend his wife or some of the women folks of the house answer the phone, should I say salams to them and should I reply back if they say salams.

Answer

Allah Ta’ala states in the noble Qur’aan, ‘When a female converse with a
strange male (not prohibited in marriage), her voice should be firm and
stern.’ (Ahzaab)

If there is a need for a female to converse with a strange male, she should
follow the above injunction of the noble Qur’aan.
