Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Respected mufty

اسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

What does the Quran e Kareem say if a aalim makes a mistake .

Is there any aaaah that says that even a aalim is subject to the laws of allah as contained in the quraan and thought to us by our beloved nabi saw ?

Please state which ayah

I knw allah is most forgiving most merciful and will forgive if the aalim recognises his error and repents

But what if the aalim refuses to recognise his error

2. Or is the aalim word final?

This query is not to create any fitnah

Jazakallah

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We appreciate your concern for the Alim.

You state that this query is not to cause Fitnah. In order to avoid Fitnah, explain to us what was the mistake of the Alim.

In any case, every human being, Alim or non-Alim makes mistakes, however the best person is he who repents. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam is reported to have said:

كُلُّ ابْنِ آدَمَ خَطَّاءٌ وَخَيْرُ الْخَطَّائِينَ التَّوَّابُونَ

Translation: “Every son of Adam sins, and the best of the sinners are those who repent.”(Tirmizi 2499)
