Is it haraam to work in the security? I have financial problems and I am badly in need of money.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have financial problems and I am badly in need of money. So I want to apply for an on-campus job in my univ. as a security spy working with security officers. There r no other jobs available So can I, being a Muslimah, work as a spy? keeping a watch over the univ. campus for safety of students? The job consists of monitoring the campus via computers and take emergency telephone calls, handle salutations like suicide, medical, bomb, fire etc, watch weather, keep tracks of buildings, etc. convey those messages to officers on the radio It is more of a police job than spying. Please reply soon with advices..

Answer

It is an accepted fact that by you joining the so-called security team, you are going to be interacting with people of the opposite gender which is prohibited.

Therefore, we suggest you seek some alternate job where you will not be exposed to the opposite gender and not interact with them.
