Paan is a special kind of leave eaten in India and Pakistan along with tobacco. What does the shariah says on chewing only tobacco itself?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have read in your previous answers that if the tobacco is harmful, then it is not permissible to chew/eat it. Well, everyone knows, tobacco is certaily harmful. 1. Was your answer based on the quantity of tobacco? 2. What is the shariah point of view on eating pan with tobacco generally(regardless of its quantitiy)? 3. What does the shariah says on chewing only tobacco itself? 4. lastly, what is the ruling on different mixture of tobaccoes like rani guthka, pattee etc.? All the above questions are asked based on the fact that tobacco is an addiction/nasha.

Answer

If the chewing of tobacco is harmful to health like smoking and also intoxicates (nasha), then it is not permissible.
