Incorrect attribute to Ml. Saad regarding da’wah being fardh ‘ain

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

With reference to fatwa# 32804, there has been a misunderstanding about what Sheikh Saad Kandhalavi daamat barakatuhum said. Here’s the link to the Bhopal Ijtima bayan (please disable images before opening since Youtube contains pictures).
Please listen from 21 minutes onwards. Sheikh Saad is stating that da’wa of Iman for one’s own correction is fard ‘ayn and that da’wa for the correction of others is fard kifaya. He doesn’t state that inviting to an Ijtima is fard áyn.

Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Brother in Islaam,

We appreciate that you directed us to the correct link for the lecture in reference. We have listened to that portion of the recording and found it contrary to what was portrayed in the previous question. It is unfortunate that some people incorrectly attribute statements to people to defame them. That is haraam and one will be sinful for doing such. May Allaah Ta’aala guide us and them. Aameen.

Nevertheless, in fatwaa #32804, we stated: “the statement quoted above is incorrect. It is not fardh ‘ain to invite to an ijtimaa’.” Our fatwaa was in regards to the statement quoted, not the person referenced to in the query.

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
