Istikhaarah for marriage, dream

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

About marriage:

I did istekhara for where i want to marry. First time i saw black and dirty water and saw that i was flying in the air.

Second time i saw that he and me were sitting on the mountain and 2 child were lying between us after some time black and brown dog comes and dream ended.

Third time i saw heavy rain, grass and i was wearing white cloth.

Fourth time, 1st day, i saw that he and me were sitting in an uncompleted home and serving food to hime and presented him green shirt. 2nd day i saw that my parents are not ready. 3rd day i saw that he was telling me that from one perspective istekhara is right but from other its not right.

First i tried a lot to avoid that person but coudn’t completely. The difficult 9 years have passed now my condition doesn’t allow me and my heart, mind and soul are not ready to accept someone else as husband or ready to marry someone else. My parents are enforcing me to marry with rich person but where i want is religious family and person also. He waited for me now his parents enforced him to marry with other but he says that i will also not able to live with her and will leave her soon. Kindly tell in light of situation and istekhara also.

Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

When making a decision to marry, istikhaarah alone is not sufficient. One should enquire the background, character and conduct of the person. It is also important to consult with the appropriate people about the person. One should also make istikhaarah with a balanced mind. Ensure the dream[i] is not a reflection of one’s inclination to the person[ii].

The dreams you refer to have negative and positive dimensions in them. If you are still in doubt, continue[iii] the istikhaarah[iv] until you feel completely satisfied about your decision.
