Zakaah on jewellery kept for daughters

My wife has 550grams of gold in the form of jewellery. All of the jewellery is not in her use. She uses only some of the selected ornaments, and for about rest of ornaments, she has strong intend to reseve for our daughters. My question is that, either we have to pay Zakat on all ornaments or only for the ornaments which is in use only. Kindly guide us.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If the jewellery belongs to your wife and she has not given the jewellery to your daughters, then she is liable to pay the Zakaah on the jewellery even though she does not use all her jewellery.

Zakaah is due only on gold and silver jewellery.

The nisaab of Zakaah for gold is 87.48 grams, and the nisaab of silver is 612.36 grams. [i]

You state your wife has 550grams of gold, this exceeds the nisaab of Zakaah.

Therefore, your wife is liable to pay Zakaah on the 550grams of gold jewellery.
