Why is investing in shares permissible?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Assalaam Wa Alaikum

A few years ago a detailed explanation(Fatwa 18673) was given wrt the impermissibilty of shares. Recent fatawa have pointed towards permissibility. I really appreciated the detailed explanation given then wrt impermissibilty. I would appreciate it if an explanation how the change towards permissibility has come about.

Jazakallah

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

There are differences of opinions amongst competent and reliable Ulama and Muftis on the issue of shares. Academic differences are appreciated and tolerated. If one deals in shares, there is a leeway according to those Ulama who believe that dealing in shares is permissible.
