Is it permissible to create or read love quote books to say to spouses?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

assalamualaikum,

is it permissible to (create, read) love quotes book or website which can be read by married people to say such words to their spouses?

jazakallah khair

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The foundation and core of a marriage is based on love which is maintained and enhanced through the spouses expressing their love for each other.[1] It is permissible to educate married people through books on how to express love to their spouses. However, in doing so, the expressions should not have unislamic influences in them.

It should also be noted that love is not confined to verbal expressions. When the spouses are devoted and considerate to each other by fulfilling their Shari marital obligations, that itself bonds the spouses with true love.

Verbal expressions of love with the absence of fulfilling marital obligations is superficial and void of any essence of love.
