Ulama’s View on Mawlana Tariq Jamil’s Visit to Shi’ite Center in Gilgit

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What is the view of the ‘Ulama of the Din regarding the recent visit by Mawlana Tariq Jamil (HA) of Pakistan to the Shi’ite center in Gilgit, Balitistan where he met with the Shi’ite leadership at the centre, addressed them and later posed for photographs with them which was  published in newspapers and websites. Is there any precedence in the life of the Salaf al-Salihin and the respected and honourable ‘Ulama of Deoband to associate, visit, address Shi’ites in their religious places of worship? Your view on this would be highly appreciated.

A: Photography is haraam and is a curse. May Allah Ta`ala save us all from all types of haraam and doubtful practices.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
