Doubts after marriage.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I would like to pose a question in regards to marriage.

I have been legally married to girl for last 2 months now, but we are not staying together whom I met a year ago. We both made Istikara after meeting early last year for 7 consecutive day. After which there were proposal’s to my family by girls parents which was accepted and my family is happy for this. We had been in a good relationship thereafter but after 2 months of Istikara, I had some negative feelings about her and I nearly broke the proposal but she was always positive and this went for couple of months but later last year it become all good and comfortable. And our parents planned to get us married legally and our nikah will be In sha Allah in 2 months’ time. Ma sha Allah we both pray 5 times namaaz every day, hoping Allah (swt) accepts this.

I always have this feeling if I’m on a right path as Allah swt wants or on wrong path as in shaitaani harkat.

I would like to know how should I be satisfied that this is my correct choice i.e. Allah (swt) has a good future for us together.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

You have stated above that you and your spouse both made istikarah after meeting each other. After making istikarah, you were inclined to go forward with the marriage. You have also stated that both you and your wife’s parents and family are happy and are wanting to go forward with the decision.

Judging from the above statements, the negative feelings and thoughts that you were having are baseless and from shaytaan. You made istikarah and decided on that, now place your trust in Allah and proceed forward. Allah says in the Qura’an:

فَإِذَا عَزَمْتَ فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ

Translation: Once you have decided, then put your trust in Allah.

When you have negative feelings and thoughts, reciteلاحول ولاقوة الا بالله  Thereafter do not entertain such thoughts. Be positive and move ahead.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
