An Alim lives near me. We are quiet friendly with each other. Once I intended to go for Hajj with him, I had dreamed his beard is short. On another occasion I had a dream, he held his hand over my head but I slipped away. What does this mean?

If that Alim follows sunnah and Shariah completely then you should think good about him and you too should follow sunnah completely. You can go for Hajj with him and should not pay any attention towards the dream.
