Teacher transferred to another school

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Q. A Muslim Education Board recently indicated to one of their teachers that they want him to leave and apply to go to a government school. They have gone to the extent of ‘locking-out’ the teacher. They cite that not upholding their ‘Bidah’ practices as the reason for his dismissal. Even though this Board was responsible for the teacher’s appointment, it is the Ministry of Education who pays his salary. Is the teacher wrong to refuse to be transferred to a government school as this Muslim school no longer wants him on their property?

A. No, the teacher is not wrong if he/she refuses to be transferred to a Government school.

The reason for his dismissal is unfounded, and it is extremely disappointing to know that while locking-out this teacher or removing him from his job, they will fully accept without hesitation, teachers who are non-Muslims, while being so vehement against their own Muslims. We ask for Allah’s help.

And Allah knows best.
