If one dies without performing the current fard prayer, do they die a sinner?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad, his folk, companions, and followers

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

No, they would not die a sinner in this case, unless they had made the firm resolve not to perform the prayer before the time goes out. This is because morally responsibility is (ultimately) determined by the end of the time in the Hanafi school. [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar; Ibn Nujaym, al-Ashbah wa’l Nadha’ir]

Thus, if one dies within a prayer time without having performed the prayer, one will not be responsible for that prayer.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
