Nose starts running during prayer when crying.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Sometimes i need to cry in salah, my nose starts “leaking” trasparant liquid, like water. It is really thin and it looks like exactly like water. What should i do when this happens? Is my prayer still valid?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

A runny nose doesn’t affect the validity of prayer–whether caused by a cold or by crying. If you need to wipe your nose, there is nothing wrong with doing so with slight movements.
