Ihram Niyyah & Salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Ilyas Patel

I understand the niyyah for ihram is made after donning the two sheets AND praying the 2 rak’ahs. However, my question is whether we can delay in making the niyyah after praying the 2 raka’ahs or is it necessary that the niyya be coupled with the performance of the two rak’ahs. my situation is such that i would like to don the ihram and pray at home before boarding the flight and make my intention just before the miqat. what do you advise?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Yes it would be permissible to don the ihram and make the intention before miqat,as one enters into Ihram when one says the talbiya.Donning the Ihram and mere intention does not make one enter into Ihram but one has to say the talbiya with intention of Haj.
It is mentioned in Quduri as follows:
…And when one says the talbiya, one is a muhrim. Moreover, one will not have begun one’s Ihram by mere intention until one does not couple it with talbiya.
