What Islamic knowledge should I be seeking?
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good.
Ibn Wahb relates that Imam Malik told him of a man who asked one of the people of righteousness about seeking knowledge. The righteous man said, “Seeking knowledge is indeed very praiseworthy. However, look at what you need in your day and night, and pursue it, and do not prefer anything to it.” [Mentioned by Mirwazi (d. 331 AH) in Ma rawahu al-akabir, p. 57]
