I buy organic free-run eggs from a local health food store. Often, when I crack open the egg, I can see blood in the yolk. Can I eat the egg?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate
Imam Ibn Hajar (Allah be pleased with him) mentions in his Tuhfa that the blood of an egg is considered pure (tahir) as long as the egg hasn’t gone bad (lam tafsud). This is an exception to the general rule that blood is impure (najis) (Tuhfat al-Muhtaj + Hashiyat Abd al-Hamid, 1.294 ).
