Question: Is it Sunnah to name one’s pets?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I hope you are in the best of health and spirits, insha’Allah.

Yes, it would be from the sunna to name one’s pets. [Munawi, Fayd al-Qadir fi Sharh Jami` al-Saghir]

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) named his most important animals and possessions such as his camel, Kaswa, and his sword, Zulfiqar.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam,
